We went a little crazy….

Melissa-V.-4 Melissa-V.-1 Melissa-V.-2 Melissa-V.-3 Brenda and I went a little crazy over Melissa’s cute pink top. She just bought it yesterday for her senior shoot and we loved it! The color was perfect! And, I love the little sweater that she topped it with. She just looked great for her senior shoot! The sun was playing a bit a peek a boo with us this morning, and we got some great lighting and images. Melissa is a senior model for the studio,  and she was model perfect, following all the rules on the tips sheet I sent out before her shoot. So, she gets her little bonus for reading to the end, and following the rules! Yay Melissa! You look great!

Lauren Blew in From Keystone

Lauren-J-4  Lauren-J-3Lauren-J-2  Lauren-J-1
Lauren blew in from Keystone, the morning of her senior session, like a breath of fresh air. Her mom, her sister and Lauren were all so sweet! I enjoyed meeting them so much!  I loved Lauren’s smile with those adorable dimples. It just make you want to smile too! Lauren is planning on a career in youth ministry and wants to go to Colorado Christian College. I think she will love it and it fits her just right! Great senior session Lauren! Enjoy your senior year! I hope to run into you on the slopes sometime this winter!

ppckiss10-kroll-6979-crop-cafe-mocha-textureYep, that’s a lot of initials. Soooo, what is all means is Professional Photographers of Colorado, Keep it Simple Seniors Event 2010.  AND, what it is….70 plus photographers, a handful of senior models, only cameras and reflectors, all let loose on the streets of Downtown Denver for a day. It’s a chance to learn from each other, try some new techniques, be a little edgy, be a little creative, and have a whole LOT of fun!! And fun it was! We had beautiful weather, fabulous models, and a whole lot of, all of the above accomplished. The extra added bonus was lots of new friendships formed, and some fun adventures…yep, there’s a story there, but don’t know if I should tell. :) Love me some PPC KISS!

Another Congrats!

I told you I love it when seniors let me know the latest with them....well, I was speaking with Lizzy's mom about her portrait order, and she mentioned that Lizzy made it to the State Swim Championship in Diving. And....she got 6th at State! Way to go Lizzy!
That's just a part of what this busy girl has going on. Skiing and yearbook are another part. And....her mom and I were talking about portfolio pictures, because this girl is pursuing some acting opportunities in LA. Another, way to go girl! So glad I met you and your mom and was able to do your senior portraits!

Quality of Light

Because this is Colorado, and everyone who has lived here for any amount of time knows the saying, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes." because the weather is beautiful, but constantly changing. Afternoons are the craziest. It can go from beautiful, to windy, to raining, to even tornadoes all within hours. That's why I encourage seniors to schedule as early in the day as possible. Mornings are more reliable. However, once school starts, we don't always get that luxury. Good thing for these latest batch of seniors! We have had beautiful evenings and BEAUTIFUL light. So beautiful Mikayla, got the benefit of that beautiful light. Isn't she just gorgeous?
She also had to put up with all the mosquitoes from all the rain we've been getting this summer. She was so good natured even wanting to do a few more at the very end when the mosquitoes were coming out in full force at twilight. I'm so glad she did too. The last few images were some of my very favorite.
It was fun talking to Mikayla and her mom about their travels and life. Another great mom for reflector and hair duty! Thanks guys!!

And so it begins.....

Ok, well technically it began yesterday, but what began is my crazy month of July. Crazy with seniors that is. Look for blog posts on an almost daily basis, as I make my way through the month. Luckily, my daughter is helping me proof to keep up. What this means for seniors is good news. More images! She is excited about all she can do in photoshop, and loves to be creative. She loves to add textures, or elements, that seniors find so fun. So you will find her favorite image done several different ways. It also means that the galleries "may" just be up a little earlier than planned. Woo Hoo!
Anyway, this is Daniela. Loved her big brown eyes that caught the light so well. I picked lots of close ups for her sneak peek just because of those eyes! Loved meeting you and your mom Daniela! Have a great Senior year!

Baby, It's HOT Outside

Yep, the temperature gauge in my car read 98 degrees! But Erin was a trooper. She saw the photos with hoods and wanted to try a few. I loved her adorable hooded jacket. SO, as you can see above....she endured the heat, hood up, zipped up, and we got a great photo. I'm thinking that modeling might be a little harder than the IB program she is currently in. Naaawww, not really. But, Erin is truly smart, beautiful, and talented (she plays the flute in the CO state Honor Band and we did get some flute pics)! It was her mom and I that really endured the heat, because Erin got the shade most of the time. Great job on reflector duty Linette. Hope you didn't get a sunburn, and I hope these wonderful photos were worth it if you did! A capture, of a moment in time, that will last a lifetime. And one that you will really appreciate in the next year when she leaves for college. It was fun guys! Even with the heat! Enjoy!

A couple for Jamie..

Jamie's senior session actually got rained out, but not before we were able to get a few on the porch. I did Jamie's sister's senior portraits a few years back and now it's Jamie's turn. She is just as gorgeous as her sister, and just as fun!
I got a new toy that we got to try out with Jamie today. A huge 5 way reflector. I love it!! And for those photographers and aspiring photographers that read this blog.....I absolutely love the catch lights it creates, and was a life saver during this session with dark overcast skies. Can't wait to finish your session Jamie. You look beautiful!
